PROPOSED

Current Tree Canopy

Developer states this is 71% coverage

Proposed Development

Developer declares they will clear the property leaving 20% of the tree canopy. Preliminary plans declare they will add ~40 1.5" diameter trees but only show adding 19 trees and 16 bushes.

Case Number: 24-ZONE-0114

Case Manager: Amy Brooks

Location: 16305 Shelbyville Rd & 211 Johnson Rd.

FF Watershed: Yes

Proposal: Clear 8 acres of tree canopy to add 6 acres of impervious surfaces. Make an extremely dangerous intersection much worse.

Pave to the edges

Property is 11.4 acres . Currently, the land is "71% tree canopy." They plan to keep 2.25 acres and wipe out the other 5.75 acres. Clearing the land will make way for 8 buildings and 6 acres of impervious surfaces. That's a 1,600% increase in impervious surfaces!

Additionally the development intends to add a new connection to US 60 as well as Johnson Rd. The traffic entering US 60 westbound will make the already incredibly dangerous intersection at KY 1531 even more dangerous.

Preliminary slope evaluation and karst survey

"The site was visually evaluated and no apparent karst features (as defined by the Land Development Code) was observed within the boundaries of the proposed site at the time of this evaluation. However, the dense vegetation, ground cover, existing

structures, and other site features may have obscured the presence of potential karst features."

"It should be noted that some portions of the site were covered with heavily wooded areas, overgrown vegetation, and fallen leaves and trees resulting in limited accessibility and overall poor visibility of ground conditions."

Another example of over development. A simple property that could easily hold a few shops the compliment the Eastwood Village is instead being designed to the edges. The increased traffic patterns, the increased runoff, and the increased pressure does not encourage safety, good order or the well-being of residents. It is yet another example of too much in a small area. These are clearly not being designed for the Eastwood Village. The city scape in the background clearly shows the disconnect.

Plan 2040 Mobility Goal

These plans also show 15 bicycle parking spaces. Ironically, these are required by the LDC. This area is dangerous for vehicles, let alone bicycles! The "Mobility Goals" make people think we are a progressive city when in reality we continue to just increase the risk of life to residents.
